Mr. Suwit Khunkitti, the minister of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), presided the ceremony of signing on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding returning forest areas from military utilization. The MoU was signed between Mr. Somchai Pienstaporn, Director General of Royal Forest Department (RFD) and Gen. Songkitti Chakkrabat, Thai Armed Forces Supreme Commander, at the Royal Initiative Coordination Center, Military Command Center, Command Division, Royal Thai Army.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), by the Royal Forest Department (RFD), joined forces with Samutprakarn Province to organize the “Follow Footsteps of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn” activities in order to pay tribute and respond to initiatives of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), by the MNRE Minister, Mr. Suwit Khunkitti, gave 27 honored awards for the year 2010 to individuals, organizations, and communities whose works had contributed to MNRE during the event of World Environment Day, 5th June 2010.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) arranged activities for the World Environment Day 2010 on 5th June 2010 in order to educate and stimulate people to realize the importance and value of biodiversity on world ecosystem and economy. The activities were held under the theme of “Many Species One Planet One Future: Biodiversity Saves the Earth”, during 4th to 5th June 2010, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at Convention Center Building, Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani, Nonthaburi Province.

Mr. Suwit Khunkitti, Minister of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) presided and signed as a witness in the ceremony of signing up the Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Conservation, Rehabilitation, and Development of Forests among 3 organizations namely MNRE (signed by Mr. Saksit Tridech, Permanent Secretary of MNRE), Royal Mae Fah Luang Foundation (signed by Mr. Apilart Osathanon, Committee Chair of Royal Mae Fah Luang Foundation), and Unseen Dedication for Royal Initiatives Foundation (signed by M.R. Disanadda Disakul, Secretary of Unseen Dedication for Royal Initiatives Foundation).

On 22 December 2009, at the park of the Natural Science Museum of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation (DNP), Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, the Director General of DNP, Mr. Suwit Ruttanamanee, the Vice Director General, and Dr. Kanthima Kunchara Na Ayudhaya, Organization Communication Director who is responsible for Organizational Activity for Social Line of True Vision Plc., jointly made a statement about arrangement of activities for Wildlife Protection Day of 2009. According to their statement, as December 26th of every year is recognized as Wildlife Protection Day, DNP, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), had planned to set up an event of activities to distribute and promote information regarding forest and wildlife resources conservation activities to people. The event aims to remind people about deterioration of natural resources and encourage them to love and care to protect forest and wildlife resources.

On January 14, 2010, Mr. Chatree Chueyprasit, Deputy Permanent Secretariate of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment chaired the workshop meeting entitled “Supports for Provincial Administration and Management of Natural Resources and Environment for 2010 Fiscal Year”. He also gave speech with policy regarding administration of natural resources in a provincial level. On this occasion, Mr. Vorapol Janngam, Director of the Internal Audit Division, Mr. Somdet Choontanom, Head of the MNRE’s Administration Development Group, Mr. Thongchai Chumnankit, Head of PCD’s Administration Development Group, Mr. Wichai Sukitmongkolkul, Head of Governmental Coordination Group, Mr. Peerawas Mehkin, Head of the Monitoring and Assessment Group, as well as relevant persons have attended the meeting and listen to the policy.
